The fintech Xepelin is carrying out different initiatives to promote female presence and talent, with emphasis on Chile, due to the low presence of women in fields such as programming, engineering, and data science. To close the gap, they are designing a mentoring program that will be aimed at the women of Xepelin and all those interested in this field.

Xepelin, which provides financial services to companies of all sizes to make payments to suppliers, meet their obligations, and access financing, is committed to investing in female talent to transform the industry.

At the same time, this fintech will continue to promote “Women in Tech,” an annual event that recognizes women in technology and encourages others to become interested in the field by collaborating with other startups.

The region needs more presence of women in technology

According to research by IT-Talent, Chile is the country in Latin America with the lowest number of women working in the technology field. The report reveals that it is in last place with 18% and that the region has only 23% of female presence.

In addition, women who pursue careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) occupy 35%. In a broader context, it is easy to understand why these companies seek to contribute to the development of women in this area: it is considered that by 2050, 75% of jobs will require this type of knowledge.

Through resources and networking opportunities, several companies are trying to eliminate the gender gap by providing support so that women can develop new skills that allow them to fill technology-related jobs.

New initiatives to promote the female presence in the technology industry

Natalia Bella, Head of Talent, Total Rewards & People Analytics at Xepelin, explains that they established a diversity and inclusion committee to encourage women to enter the technological field.

We are designing a mentoring program with external and internal mentors to precisely encourage our leaders and help them consolidate tools for their best work and performance. It is our commitment, and we want to continue empowering the women of Xepelin and those who are interested in this incredible world.”

Geographically, this fintech is present in Chile and Mexico, seeking to expand opportunities for women with different initiatives, either promoting diversity or opening the doors to more innovation thanks to new talent.
