Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) and MoneyGram, the money transfer company, have invested in Colombian digital payments startup Interstellar. The investment was made through a Series A funding round, although the amount of the investment was not disclosed.

Interstellar is a financial technology company focused on developing digital payment solutions. The company uses blockchain technology to facilitate money transactions internationally. The investment from SDF and MoneyGram will allow Interstellar to expand its presence in Latin America and the Caribbean.

“We are excited to partner with Stellar Development Foundation and MoneyGram to accelerate the adoption of digital payments in Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Interstellar CEO Andrés Villaquirán. “This investment will allow us to expand our presence in the region and offer digital payment solutions to more people.”

The investment in Interstellar is part of SDF and MoneyGram’s efforts to promote the adoption of blockchain technology in the payments industry. Both companies believe blockchain technology can improve the efficiency and security of money transactions.
